A Very Warm Welcome
Dear Parent or Carer,
Now that your son or daughter is about to start at Fairlight Playgroup & Nursery we hope that you will feel really welcome here. We understand that this period of transition can sometimes be difficult for parents and carers. We aim to reassure you and also answer any queries that you may have.
You are very welcome to stay with your child until you and the nursery staff are happy that your son or daughter is settled. This is to help you and your child become familiar with our routines and also the new environment. It will hopefully help the big step of starting nursery become a little easier. If your son or daughter has a special comforter they are very welcome to bring it to nursery with them to support them settling in.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework (EYFS) which sets standards that all early years providers must meet to ensure that children learn through play and develop to their full potential and are kept healthy and safe. We provide a balance of adult led and child initiated activities. Our nursery offers your child a safe and happy environment where we will support their learning. We value the opportunity to go on outings and explore our country environment. We also have close links to our local community and take pleasure in inviting visitors to our sessions - for example Fire and Rescue Service, Community Police Officer and Librarian.
We are registered with Ofsted and have been graded as good. A copy of our most recent Ofsted report can be read in the Parent Folder and also online at www.ofsted.gov.uk.
Our policies and procedures documents are available to you on the notice boards in both halls. There is a Parent Folder placed in the entrance hall which provides added information. Please also refer to the notice board in the entrance hall for weekly nursery updates. Our newsletters are given out termly.
We pride ourselves in our efforts to continually improve our services for the children and their parents and carers. We have developed strong links with our local primary schools, which is extremely beneficial at the time when your child moves on to school. The reception class teachers visit our nursery during the summer term to meet with the children in an environment that is familiar to them. You will be notified of the transition arrangements when your child approaches the term before they are due to start school.
Nursery Manager: Gerry Jones
Deputy Manager: Maria Hodgson
Each member of staff holds a level three qualification in childcare and development and is also trained in paediatric first aid and child protection. We regularly attend training courses to keep up to date with best practice. We operate a key person system. This is where each child is allocated their own key person. This person will get to know your child especially well and will act as your initial link between home and nursery. A named learning journey folder will be allocated to your child and this will be discussed with you at the time you join us.
Fees and Term Date Document
Fairlight Playgroup and Nursery (FPN) is OFSTED approved and receives Nursery Vouchers for the appropriately aged child. For other children the Session Fee is (with effect September 2016): £15.00.
Fees are payable termly in advance, or by agreement with the Treasurer, half-termly. Cheques are to be payable to Fairlight Village Playgroup. We regret that we cannot accept children on a casual basis. Should a child be unable to attend there is no refund of fees paid except if a child is ill for more than three weeks, in which case further fees will be waived and a place kept open until such time as the child is well enough to attend. In the event of a holiday during term time, parents should give reasonable notice. A credit equivalent to 50% of the fees payable during the holiday period will be allowed. FPN follows the dates used by East Sussex County Council for its terms. The exact dates for each term will be made known to parents by way of a newsletter or notice in advance. A system is in place at all times for registering children and staff attendance on a daily basis, showing hours of attendance. The name, home address and date of birth of each child who is looked after is recorded.
